CSA Youth Center – From Run Down to Wonderful!

Posted by Studio Dwell

A few weeks ago we shared a sneak peak of an exciting project Studio Dwell had the opportunity to participate in…… Now it’s finally time for the big reveal!

Five months ago Studio Dwell partnered with Taylor Morrison Homes and dozens of other local trade partners to renovate a rundown lounge space for at-risk youth located on the campus of Canyon State Academy. Canyon State Academy is an amazing non-profit organization approved by the State of Arizona as a Qualified Foster Care Charitable Organization. The Academy specializes in evidence-based, therapeutic and educational programs, specifically developed for at risk youth.

The lounge space which was formally called The Rams Club and now proudly renamed the UNION, is a reward-based facility for the students. The UNION is an earned privilege for students which allows them to partake in games and activities designated for leisure and fun.

The building was in much need of a remodel as you can see from the before photos! A team of Designers at Studio Dwell designed the new space and presented it to the Academy. From there, with the leadership and vision of James Van Cuyck from Taylor Morrison, we hit the ground running. FIFTY local trades donated their time, expertise, products, and materials – everything from tile and carpet, drywall and framing, electrical and roofing, furniture and TV’s, to landscape and air conditioning… and the list goes on. The sheer magnitude of generosity was truly humbling to watch! While the monetary donation totaled around $40,000, the Academy estimates the value of this new space with construction updates, landscape and interiors to be over $500,000!

We at Studio Dwell are truly honored and humbled to have been a part of this project and cannot thank enough, all those involved for everything they did to make this dream a reality. The Academy and the kids are over the moon to be able to utilize their new space! It is surely a gift that will continue to give for years to come.
